The
Gospel of The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi
This book is the full translation of the Bengali work 'Sri Sri Mayer
Katha'. Most of the reminiscences and conversations of the Holy Mother,
except what appears in the great work of Swami Saradeshananda entitled
'The Mother as I saw her', are now available in this single volume. Through
the impressions and recollections of a large number of men and women of
various stations in life, who came into contact with The Holy Mother who
chose to remain outside public notice behind the Purdah and in the obscurity
of the village of Jayrambati, her greatness emerges in the bright colours
of Universal Motherhood, never before witnessed in so striking a manner
in any personality we know of. Therefore, while the contents of this book
are of special importance to the followers of Sri Ramakrishna, they
can make an appeal to all who appreciate the great human value of motherliness.
Here are some sayings

Holy
Mother Sri Sarada Devi
-- by the late Swami Gambhirananda, the former President of the Order.
The learned author, whose scholarly translations of Sankara's commentary
on the Upanishads has been widely received, has left not a stone unturned
to make the Life exhaustive and interesting by incorporating as many facts
and incidents of the Mother's life as could be gleaned from all reliable
sources, oral and documentary. The main narrative is profusely interspersed
with conversations of the Mother and, consequently, the book ably fills
the place of an authentic volume on the Life of the Holy Mother. pp. 540.
We can only sum up the importance of this book in the immortal words of
Swami Vivekananda, explaining the significance of Mother's life:
"Without Shakti (Power) there is no regeneration
for the world. Mother was born to revive that wonderful
Shakti in India: and making her the nucleus, once more will Gargis
and Maitreyis be born into the world."

The
Mother As I Saw Her
Authored by Swami Saradeshananda (Gopesh Maharaj), this book was translated
into English by Prof. J. N. Dey. It is a book of reminiscences on Sri Sarada
Devi, by one who had occasion to hear and see much of what he has recorded.
Though there are many books now on the Holy Mother, both in English and
in Indian languages, this small bunch of reminiscences has the virtue of
revealing the very core of the unique personality of the Mother, and can
therefore claim to be one of the original works of first rate authority
and importance on her. |
