We have not yet been able to get in touch with this
center and collect a formal appeal, which we plan to do over course of
time but which might take a considerable while due to our having to get
in touch with a large number of centers, the remoteness of the centers,
as well as their not having any readymade formal appeals in hand.
What we have portrayed below, therefore, is the philanthrophic/charitable
activities conducted by this center as submitted in their annual report
to the Ramakrishna Mission Headquarters.
As should be obvious, all philanthrophic/charitable
activities of Ramakrishna Mission are supported through contributions from
kind hearted folks and/or institutions.
Started in 1907, the Sevashrama conducts the following:
-
A hospital with medical, surgical, eye, ENT, dental, physiotherapy, gynaecology,
orthopaedic, radiology and pathology departments with 121 beds, about 5650
annual admissions, and about 3250 annual surgical cases,
-
An out-patient allopathic-cum-homoeopathic dispensary that annually treats
about 4,30,950 cases,
-
A school of nursing with 32 students for general nursing and midwifery
courses, recognized by the UP State Nursing Council,
-
A mobile medical unit that annually treats about 13,150 cases,
-
Dairy and Agricultural farms, and
-
Welfare activities such as distribution of food, books, clothing, spectacles,
etc. to the poor and the needy.
The Sevashrama also has a Math associated with it which was started in
1965 and conducts the following:
-
Daily worship, bhajans, fortnightly Ramnam, Shyamnam, etc.
-
Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother, Swami
Vivekananda and other religious celebrities,
-
A library with about 5000 books and 29 newspapers and periodicals,
-
Occasional distribution of pecuniary and other help to the poor and the
needy, and
-
Cultural programmes such as oratorical competitions, etc. for school and
college students.
