A Note from the Webpage Administrator
We have not yet been able to get in touch with this center and collect a formal appeal, which we plan to do over course of time but which might take a considerable while due to our having to get in touch with a large number of centers, the remoteness of the centers, as well as their not having any readymade formal appeals in hand.

What we have portrayed below, therefore, is the philanthrophic/charitable activities conducted by this center as submitted in their annual report to the Ramakrishna Mission Headquarters.

As should be obvious, all philanthrophic/charitable activities of Ramakrishna Mission are supported through contributions from kind hearted folks and/or institutions.

Started in 1897 by Swami Akhandananda, this oldest Ashrama of the Mission conducts the following activities:

  • A high school with 604 boys,
  • Three units of junior basic school with 559 boys and 307 girls,
  • A residential junior basic teachers' training institute with 89 trainees,
  • 3 school hostels with 162 inmates
  • A charitable allopathic-cum-homoeopathic dispensary which treats about 15,500 cases annually,
  • Seven libraries with reading-rooms with about 16,500 books and 21 periodicals and newspapers,
  • A students' home with 4 college students and weekly religious class at the Berhampore sub-centre
  • Occasional help to the poor and needy, and
  • Daily worship in the Ashrama shrine and observance of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna and other religious celebrities.
