We have not yet been able to get in touch with this center and collect a formal appeal, which we plan to do over course of time but which might take a considerable while due to our having to get in touch with a large number of centers, the remoteness of the centers, as well as their not having any readymade formal appeals in hand.

What we have portrayed below, therefore, is the philanthrophic/charitable activities conducted by this center as submitted in their annual report to the Ramakrishna Mission Headquarters.

As should be obvious, all philanthrophic/charitable activities of Ramakrishna Mission are supported through contributions from kind hearted folks and/or institutions.

The Sanatorium which was opened in 1951 with 32 beds, had 280 beds last year with several ancillary departments, including a diary and an agricultural farm for the benefit of the patients.

Its activities are:

  • An in-patient department which treats about 630 cases annually, with about 160 cases being treated free of charge and 300 at concessional rates.
  • An out-patient department which treats about 25000 cases annually, most of them free-of-charge.
  • An out-patient homoeopathic department which treats about 5800 cases annually
  • A mobile dispensary which treats about 18000 cases annually.
  • A library with 5210 books and 27 newspapers and periodicals
  • A free middle school (Hindi medium) for the local adivasi and backward class children (about 250 boys and 170 girls), and
  • Observance of the birthday celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda and religious festivals like Jagaddhatri Puja etc.
