An Appeal

Our Motto of Service

"Service to Man is Service to God" -- The Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan is imbibed with this spirit of dedicated selfless service to the deprived humanity. Our philanthrophic activities (since 1932) have embraced the needy and downtrodden in their dire needs. Race or religion, caste or creed are no bar. We serve all.

Our Activities

1. i)
Our Pratishthan runs a 550-bed general hospital. It is mainly dedicated to the treatment of the poor and less-privileged sections of the society.
ii)
20% of the total number of indoor patients annually admitted (about 18000) are given free treatment.
iii)
Many other patients are also being given concessional and highly subsidised treatment.
iv)
About 3,00,000 outdoor patients are served annually of whom many get free / part-free treatment.
2. Our Pratishthan has its own Residential Nursing School.
i)
Here about 200 girl students from low-income families are given training in a 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery Course.
ii)
Maintaining, training and teaching of the girls are all done free of charges.
3. Community Health Services in 33 backward villages are undertaken by us free of charge (annually about 36,000 patients.)
4. We conduct Post-graduate Medical Teaching & Research.

Our Present Undertaking
Our Seva Pratishthan has recently undertaken a social development project - a multistoreyed housing project estimated to cost Rs. 100 lakhs. It is for rehousing of slum-dwellers, presently living in the land adjacent to the Pratishthan.

This is being done with twin objectives:

i) To rehabilitate 74 slum-dwelling families in decent one-room flats. Multistoried buildings with modern sanitation are to be constructed on the Pratishthan's land in Bagmari, North Calcutta. Each family will be given free ownership of one 330 sq. ft. flat.
ii) To develop the 'bustee' land thus vacated adjacent to the hospital complex in Grove Lane. Here extension of the hospital complex is to be made. Hospital Service for the common people will thus be extended and improved.
Government Patronage for the Project
In appreciation of the egalitarian and philanthrophic nature of the scheme, the Government of India, on recommendation of the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare, has generously allowed the Pratishthan to seek public donations against 100% Income Tax exemption for the donors under section 35AC of the I.T.Act,1961, for completion of the project within a period of 3 years commencing from April 1999 to March 2000 (FY).

Our Appeal to you

We earnestly solicit liberal contributions from you - the generous public, the corporate sector, the charitable trusts - one and all. We shall regard each contribution as most valuable in this ambitious Rs. 1 crore (10 million) project meant for the benefit of poor and low-income people.

Your blissful benevolence will bring light of health and smile of home to many such people.

May we look forward to hearing from you soon alongwith your kind financial assistance to help us in timely completion of the project.
