Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, Calcutta, is a branch centre of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah. With the unstinted support from the Government, generous public, Trusts and Industrial Houses of our country, this Hospital has gradually developed into a General Hospital with 550 beds and caters to the medical needs of patients primarily belonging to poor and lowincome groups of our society for over past six decades. It also runs a Mobile Medical Dispensary equipped with doctors & trained nurses to extend free services to a nearby slum and 33 remote villages through our scheme of Community Health Service. We have been able to install some pieces of modern Medical Equipment such as a Whole Body Scanner, Holter Monitor, Tread Mill Test, E.M.G. machines, Auto-analyser etc. to render improved medical services to the patients at subsidised rate. 20% of the beds are earmarked for treatment of the poor and deserving patients. On many occasions concession in bed and investigation charges are also granted to the patients from poor and low income groups. Although we receive occasional help from generous persons, Government and benevolent organizations for purchase of modern equipment, we do not receive adequate donation to cover some essential expenses such as those for medicines, dressings, diet, laboratory chemicals, linen, maintenance of Nursing Services etc. Owing to abnormal rise in prices of all essential commodities we are unable to make both ends meet with our limited resources and as a result thereof we are incurring deficit every year. To overcome this problem we are trying to create Permanent Funds. The annual income from these funds will be utilised for maintenance, repair and development of the Hospital and also Mobile Dispensary. We, therefore, appeal to our generous countrymen, trusts and industrial houses to contribute liberally to the Pratishthan. All contributions, big or small, will be thankfully accepted and gratefully acknowledged. Cheques/Drafts/M.O.s may kindly be sent favouring: Donations are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80-G of the I.T.Act, 1961. Swami Sarvalokananda
