AN APPEAL FOR ORISSA CYCLONE RELIEF

As you are aware that in the recent catastropic cyclone in Orissa, thousands are dead and millions are homeless and stranded without food or shelter. Massive relief program will be needed for a long time. Ramakrishna Foundation (RKF) is urgently seeking donation for helping in this relief program. Please make your checks payable to Ramakrishna Foundation with a note for Orissa cyclone relief. In addition to own contribution and commitment (and no amount is too small or too big for such a massive cause), I would personally request you to email or bring this appeal to the attention of other friends who may be sympathetic to this humanitarian cause. All money given for this purpose will be transferred to the Flood Relief fund of RK Mission, Bhubaneswar, Orissa with specific instruction for Orissa cyclone relief.

ORISSA CYCLONE RELIEF BY RAMAKRISHNA MISSION
Ramakrishna Mission is engaged in extensive primary relief services among 15,000 cyclone-affected families belonging to seven districts of Orissa, viz. Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda and Puri. 150 M.T. rice, 33 M.T. pulses, 38 M.T. flattened rice, 6 M.T. sugar and molasses, 2 M.T. salt and 11,596 pcs. clothes and blankets have already been distributed among the most needy.
In addition, a mobile medical unit treated more than 5000 cyclone-affected patients in the aforesaid areas. Subsequently, 18,000 saris, 18,000 dhotis and lungis, 40,000 children's garments, 18,000 towels, 9000 bed sheets, 18,000 blankets, 9000 polythene (tarpaulin) sheets, 5000 lanterns and 5000 sets aluminium lamp; stainless steel utensils consisting of 10 items per set are being distributed among 9000 worst-affected families of Kujanga, Ersama, Mohanpur, Kendrapara, Kakatpur and several other cyclone devastated blocks. The mobile medical services is being extended to cover the vast coastal regions of Puri district.
