An Appeal

Dear Friend,

Started in 1931, this centre conducts the following activities:

  • a higher secondary school
  • three lower primary schools
  • a small vocational school for teaching weaving, tailoring and knitting
  • a hostel for 110 boys
  • a mobile audio-visual unit
  • a charitable dispensary with a mobile unit which treats about 20,000 patients a year
  • celebration of the birthdays of religious celebrities
  • two libraries and a reading room (books 11,200, periodicals 14), and
  • a museum depicting tribal culture.
At Sobhar, about 18 km down Cherrapunji, it has
  • a lower and upper primary school
  • a vocational training centre (weaving), and
  • two separate hostels for boys and girls.
At Shella, it conducts a lower and an upper primary school.

At Nongwar, 35 km down Cherrapunji, it has a lower and an upper primary school. It also conducts similar schools at other places.

In all, the centre conducts a higher secondary school, 15 upper and 31 lower primary schools. Altogether 2899 boys and 2980 girls study in the schools.

We are working in a place where we get little financial assistance from the local people. Further, for the last six months, we have not got any grant from the Government. We meet all the expenses of the Institutions during this period from our Ashrama fund, which is also insufficient. We shall be happy if you could help these Institutions by contributing or collecting on behalf of them some substantial funds for smooth functioning of the activities of the Ashrama. We sincerely hope in receiving some help in serving the poor masses of this remote corner of India.

May Sri Ramakrishna bless you all with lasting peace and happiness.

With my love and best wishes,

Swami Nityamuktananda.
