An appeal for donation
This institution, a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission (Head Quarter: Belur Math, P.O. Belur Math, Howrah) was started in Calcutta in 1916 and is located at present in a fairly big campus of 37 acres at Belgharia, Calcutta 700 056. It was the first educational venture of the Ramakrishna Mission in Northern India.
This Home is a residential institution for imparting value-based education to the youths of our country. It is specially meant for poor but meritorious H.S. and college students studying in different colleges and H.S. Schools in and around Calcutta, with a library, a prayer hall and a small vocational unit to train the inmates. Out of 107 boarders as at present, two-thirds are maintained under free category. They are provided with free board, lodging, conveyance to their respective colleges, medical care, stationery, text books and in some needy cases with bedding, clothing etc. too. Being a residence for college students, it is also licensed by the Calcutta University as a non-collegiate hostel. When it was shifted to Belgharia in 1954, new activities were gradually added to it. We, therefore, earnestly appeal to you, and through you to your friends, to donate to the Building & Maintenance Fund of the Home. It may be mentioned that donation to the Ramakrishna Mission is exempt from Income Tax under Sec.80G of the Indian Income Tax Act,1961 Vide No. Assmnt. DIT (E)/171/8E/109/69/70 dt. 17.06.94 Valid upto 31.03.2000.
Cheques or Drafts may be drawn in favour of "Ramakrishna Mission Calcutta Students’ Home". Please mention "For Building & Maint. Fund" in the forwarding letter. Contributions, however small, will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged.
